Until now, I have yet to receive a response.

As you are well aware, the outrage that has spread across the Penn State community over the sexual abuse allegation by Jerry Sandusky is palpable. In order for this community to move forward and heal, I am asking that in addition to creating an independent review by external council of the school’s policies related to the protection of children, a serious internal investigation be conducted to determine who had knowledge of these events and could have spoken up.

I understand that certain members of the faculty did not violate the letter of the law in their actions, but ethically, they failed those children and allowed further abuse to happen. In this culture of turning a blind eye, the administration has irreparably damaged the name of Penn State and the honor of all her alumni.

Additionally, the fact that the “graduate student” who reported the 2002 incident to Mr. Paterno was in fact Mike McQueray, who became assistant coach reeks of a cover-up. From the outside, it looks like the Athletic Department asked a 28 year old kid to keep his mouth shut and reap the rewards.

Everyone involved needs to be removed. I am asking you, as the trustees of our honored University, to do the right thing. Support the children who are the victims of this tragedy, clean house of all involved, and help the Penn State community at large to move on.

Thank you for your time.

Your and your administration’s inaction in the Sandusky case is appalling. The fact that nothing was reported to the authorities for years and that you allowed more victims to be assaulted without having conducted an investigation is shameful and a disgrace. This morning, hundreds of thousands of Penn State alumni, faculty, staff, and students have a black eye and are left unable to defend our institution which we assumed was better than this.

You well know the words to the Penn State Alma Mater. Your lack of action has brought shame on all of our hearts.

I’m asking you to resign.
